The South West Coastal Path
Originally created by those charged with spotting smugglers and in the various coves and inlets that dot the coast the South West Coast Path is now a 630-mile delight for us all. Some of the most scenic views can be found along the path as well as passing through beautiful south west towns and villages. The path is ideal for those looking to take a gentle stroll with the dog as well as seasoned hikers who love the demanding stages and twists and turns of the path. It has to be said that some areas particularly on the southern part of the path can be particularly gruelling but there is normally various refreshment at journeys end. Starting at Minehead in Somerset it runs along the coastline of Exmoor, continuing along the coast of North Devon into Cornwall. It follows the entire coastline of Cornwall, goes across the mouth of the River Tamar and continues into Devon. After running along the south coast of Devon it then follows the Dorset coastline before finally ending at Poole Harbour.
See & Do in the South West
With a milder climate than many the south west of England offers visitors so much to see and do all year round. Beautiful scenery is all around you in the south west with incredible sandy beaches and coves, the stunning south west coastal path, national parks such as Dartmoor and Exmoor as well as numerous areas of natural beauty AONB’s. As well as all of this natural beauty there is something going on all year round including historic houses to visit, family theme parks and attractions, towns and villages to explore and some of the finest restaurants and eateries anywhere in the UK.
