In the knell of Mamm Torr, Castleton is situated in a perfect location. With gorgeous views over Winnats Pass and the Hope Valley, Castleton offers a great day out for anyone. Incredible views, a daily market or a trip to Peveril Castle, we are sure there’s something for everyone.
Located at the confluence of two rivers Castleton was mentioned in the Doomsday book as a centre of lead mining. As a result, there are several large caverns near that one can go into and explore. After a full day of exploring, there are several pubs to retreat to for a refreshing drink or meal.
Castleton is the only place in the world where the semi-precious stone Blue John, unique to the Peak District and Derbyshire, can be found.
