High Swinside Cottage can accommodate up to 5 guests in total comfort and is ideal for a family or friends looking to get away from it all for a holiday or short break. Downstairs there is a cosy living room with a log burner that leads through to the kitchen at the front of the house Upstairs there is a family bathroom and 3 bedrooms: a spacious ensuite double, a 2nd bedroom that can be arranged as a twin or a double, and a single bedroom. Dog friendly, the cottage has wonderful views and is warm and welcoming.
The Hot Tubs are extremely popular after a day out exploring and an ideal place to take in the views, do some star gazing or simply plan tomorrows adventures.
High Swinside Cottage is one of just three self-catering holiday cottages at High Swinside. Delightfully situated in The Vale of Lorton and within walking distance of the village with shop and excellent dog friendly pub. Just 8 miles from Keswick or 6 miles from Cockermouth this is a walkers and cyclists paradise with excellent bike trails in nearby Whinlatter Forest, and superb walks right from the doorstep.

From the garden you have a far reaching view over the peaceful Lorton valley - from Melbreak and the Grasmoor fells through 180 degrees to the misty Scottish mountains in the north.
In the garden there are benches, a picnic table for eating al fresco, and 2 discretely positioned hot tubs for enjoying the view . There are hammocks, BBQs, a simple tree house, a pond with tadpoles and newts, and a camp fire circle. Among the trees there is also a safely fenced 'dog run free' area where dogs can be allowed off the lead to sniff and run about. Elsewhere you might come across free range hens and their delicious eggs are usually available!
The cottages have a secure bike store and plenty of parking space, including next to the cottages for unloading.
A footpath runs from the cottages to High Lorton 20 minutes walk away where you will find the Lorton Village Shop. The dog-friendly Wheatsheaf pub is 10-15 minutes further on in Low Lorton (or 10 minutes by car). Across the cattlegrid behind the cottages lie the open fells with fabulous walking straight from the door.
You can reserve a hot tub for a minimum of 3 nights (@ £10 a night). Please reserve it early to avoid disappointment.
You enter the cottage through the hall with coat hooks, bench, and boot rack. There is also a large storage cupboard available here.
Down two steps you reach sitting room with seating for 5 guests, satellite tv/dvd, board games & walking books, log burning stove and a large basket of logs. The kitchen/dining room next door is spacious and well-equipped. The dining table seats 5 comfortably, and the kitchen has a cooker, microwave, slow cooker, fridge, food processor and all the crockery and utensils you could need.
First Floor Description
Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms and a family bathroom. The spacious double bedroom has an ensuite shower room with electric shower. The 2nd bedroom can be made up as a superking or twin beds (tell the owner which arrangement you need when you book). The 3rd bedroom is a single. The family bathroom includes a shower over the bath.
Window Views Description
The cottage has views in 3 directions. From the dining table the windows face the garden and valley in one direction, and the Grasmoor fells in the other. The ensuite bedroom upstairs has two views - towards the Grasmoor fells and though a small bay window towards Whinlatter and Swinside fell. The 2nd bedroom looks out over a small raised garden towards Whinlatter, while the single room has a small cottage window facing the Lorton valley.
