Oak House makes the perfect rural retreat for couples or families looking to escape to the country for a holiday or break. Delightfully situated in the heart of the Knap Yard complex at Harewood Estate your privacy is assured. Sleeping up to 4 guests the cottage has 2 stunning bedrooms both furnished to the highest standards. Each room is individually decorated with its own unique charm, making the most of the extensive period features and complementing them with some contemporary modern touches. The House offers two spacious bedrooms, a sleek kitchen/diner, a grand living room, two bathrooms and enclosed gardens to the front and rear.
Outside the property benefits from two garden. To the front a spacious enclosed south facing garden includes mature flower beds, picnic table with parasol, and beautiful views across Cherry trees and the Estate beyond. The rear of the property has a spacious Indian slate patio area with BBQ, fire pit and bistro style table and chairs. Steps lead up to a further private hedge enclosed area.
Oak House is one of just eight delightful holiday cottages situated in the idyllic surroundings of the Harewood Estate. All the properties in our holiday cottage collection have their own unique history and atmosphere, be it former farm workers cottages or ancient hunting lodge. These Grade II Listed buildings ooze character, offering great views and access to our amazing landscapes designed by Lancelot “Capability” Brown. The Yorkshire Dales and Moors are both within easy striking distance for day trips.

Outside Description
Outside the property benefits from two garden. To the front a spacious enclosed south facing garden includes mature flower beds, picnic table with parasol, and beautiful views across Cherry trees and the Estate beyond. The rear of the property has a spacious Indian slate patio area with BBQ, fire pit and bistro style table and chairs. Steps lead up to a further private hedge enclosed area which boasts a Scandinavian wood fired Hot Tub and bench seating under a wooden Gazebo Outside stone-built sheds are ideal for secure bike storage.
Downstairs Description
You enter the property through the gated private rear entrance. The back door leads straight into the wood panelled hallway with a downstairs cloakroom to the right which also features wood panelling to the walls. The large fully equipped kitchen diner boasts underfloor heating, a range of bespoke built dark blue modern kitchen units beautifully offset with grey wood panelled walls and generous built in corner bench seating offers dining for up to ten people. Exceptionally well equipped with a professional quality range cooker with 6 burner induction hob, integrated fridge freezer, dishwasher and wine cooler it’s the perfect place for budding chefs to explore their creative side or if you would rather someone else do the work it’s the ideal location to hire in our onsite chef. The beautiful south facing period arched windows offer views over the enclosed front garden and beyond.
The hallway has hanging space for coats and a small under stairs laundry room with a combined washer dryer. The regal living room has a 1920’s feel, is incredibly spacious and benefits from high ceilings, wood flooring, wood panelled walls, original arched shuttered windows and similar door leading out to the front garden. Packed with original features there is a large working period fireplace and two full height wall murals painted by an artist who also painted works in Harewood House in the 20th Century. The room has been comfortably furnished with a range of fitting antique furniture and original Chesterfield sofas, a 55” modern picture framed smart TV and a bespoke made antler chandelier, made using antlers collected from Harewood’s own Red Deer herd.
First Floor Description
A grand and spacious staircase with original banisters and sisal carpet runner leads from the hallway to the bedrooms upstairs. A second antler chandelier dominates the stairs and landing with additional natural light reflected from a converted English over mantle mirror.
The master bedroom has been designed with a Chinoiserie style theme and features high ceilings, original working wooden shuttered windows, Sisal carpet, Mark Hinchcliffe designed wallpaper, a late 19th Century French Burr walnut bed with fixed Superking Hypnos Mattress, built in dressing table and plenty of additional hanging space. The views out over the estate from the south facing windows are superb.
From the landing steps lead down into the grand master bathroom which includes wood panelled walls and underfloor heating throughout. Beautiful feature pieces include a large double ended free standing copper bath with floor mounted taps and hand shower, large built in vanity sink with antique marble top, and high-level cistern flushing toilet.
The landing also leads to the light and airy guest bedroom which also features Sisal carpet, Mark Hinchcliffe designed wallpaper, a zip and link Superking Hypnos bed with a studded headboard. This room features a clean and modern ensuite with LED lit walk in shower, low level toilet and vanity unit.
Window Views Description
The downstairs front windows look out onto the orchard of Cherry Tree. Quite stunning in the spring when full of blossom and charming too when festooned with Christmas lights . From upstairs the views reach across the fields and woodland of Harewood Estate
