Fordingbridge is a nearby traditional Hampshire town on the banks of the River Avon, and offers a good mix of shops, pubs and restaurants, a small museum of local history and a display of original work by the artist Augustus John, who lived here for many years. The medieval Great Bridge, with seven graceful arches, is a major feature of the town.
