A former bank-barn that has been tastefully renovated to provide two luxurious compact two-story dwellings for couples or young families with a baby. The Tack Barn has more windows and has a very generous and opulent bath, whereas the Bake House is slightly larger with a walk-in shower in place of the bath. Please note that The Tack Barn has a hand, not wall-mounted shower.
The Hyning Estate is a superb selection of luxury self catering accommodation and offers the very best in 'Green', award winning holiday cottages all are beautifully appointed and with a wonderful mix of the past but with all of the mod cons and facilities you could need during your stay.
The Estate is superbly situated near Kendal in Cumbria on the edge of The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks
There are 7 individual, private dwellings which sleep between 2 and 12+ people, or 27+ in combination. Two pairs of cottages can also be linked together and optionally booked in combination as Hyning Howe. The Hyning Estate is just perfect for all types of holidays, breaks and as the ultimate venue to celebrate a special occasion.
The Estate is the perfect base from which to explore the whole of Cumbria including: beautiful towns and villages, its history, landscape of mountains, lakes and caves, historic railways and much more.

Location and setting
Easy to get to and close to the area’s main tourist attractions yet away from the Lakeland traffic hotspots, the Estate is accessed from a long private driveway which opens up to reveal extensive grounds with mature planting surrounded by farm and parkland in a beautiful and very peaceful setting. You can download local walks from our website (GPX routes for OS Maps on your mobile or handheld GPS), we have a comprehensive library of books and guides and we will do all we can to help you make the most of this spectacular and unique location whatever your ages or interests.

The owners, Jan and Richard Hinchliffe live on the Estate and warmly welcome you to their “Grand Design”. We have an extensive library of books and guides and, combined with extensive local knowledge, we will do all we can to help you make the most of this spectacular and unique location whatever your ages or interests…. and if you just want to get away from it all then you don’t need to know we’re here!
Notes on prices
For accurate prices see owner's website. Summary prices are weekly / 3 night weekend and for the standard occupancy (2 people per bedroom) Short Breaks typically: 3 Nights 70% 4 nights 80%, 5 nights 90%, 6 Nights 95% of weekly prices.
There is a minimum stay of 3 nights in the larger properties and 5 nights at Easter, Christmas and New Year. Changeover day - Completely flexible.
Booking notes
You can book online by going to our website or you can phone or email us. A deposit of 20% is required when booking and the balance is required 8 weeks before arrival. If you have to cancel more than 8 weeks in advance then we will transfer your deposit to a replacement booking. You will be asked to read our full booking T's & C's before booking.
