With culture and history around every corner of York, there is something for everyone and it’s all on your doorstep. Situated in the centre of the three Ridings of Yorkshire, The Brew House is also ideally located to explore the North Yorkshire Moors, the Yorkshire Dales, The Yorkshire Wolds and the spectacular Yorkshire Coast. The rich industrial heritage of West Yorkshire with attractions such as Salts Mill at Saltaire and The Royal Armouries at Leeds are also easily reached.
The Old Brewery is located on Ogleforth, an ancient medieval lane, reputedly used by the Romans. It leads onto Chapter House Street and then to York Minster. Ogleforth is very tranquil and the noises of the inner city are left well behind. The Old Brewery adjoins the Minster precinct and also adjoins the magnificent St William's College, a wonderful medieval building which was a school for the Minster priests until the 16thC and then the Royal Mint for Charles 1. A short walk in one direction takes you to the Minster gardens and then the Minster itself whilst walking in the other direction leads on the the busy street of Goodramgate with its many restaurants, independent shops and pubs. Goodramgate, in turn, leads on to King's Square and the Shambles at one side and Petergate and Stonegate on the other. We offer a dedicated parking space in the Old Brewery courtyard and once there, most guests do not touch their car until they leave, as most of what York offers is within walking distance.
Accessed by either a lift or stairs, the apartment door opens on to a corridor which leads to the kitchen and living space at the end on the left and an en-suite king-size bedroom at the end on the right. The master bathroom with bath and overhead shower also leads off this entrance space. The kitchen/living space has a fully fitted kitchen and dining area at one end leading to 2 sofas and coffee table at the other. Two windows plus a warehouse style door look out on to the courtyard and beyond to the back of St William's College and the Minster buildings.
First Floor Description
The second twin bedroom is located on a mezzanine floor accessed via the entrance area. This is open to the living space but remains very private.
Window Views Description
The Old Brewery boasts two courtyards and The Brew House, from the front, looks out over one courtyard and to the Minster property beyond. From the main bedroom, the view is over the other Old Brewery courtyard on to The Dutch House and other buildings beyond.
