Outside Description
The garden at Urlay Nook is at the back of the cottage and faces south with two patio areas, a lawn, flower beds and pots. There is a small stream, Askrigg Beck, that runs at the bottom of the garden behind the garden wall and straight over the beck are grass fields which you look out onto from the cottage. These are used as nursery fields for the sheep and lambs in Spring then hay meadows later in the year. The cottage is next to the road on one side but is still nice and peaceful-double glazed windows ensure that there is very little noise from the road. To one side of the cottage is the parking area for one medium-large car or two small cars with a 7KW EV charger available. There is also free car parking in the village car park across the road. From the cottage parking area which is also next to the beck, there is a wooden footbridge onto the green lane at the edge of Askrigg and called Urlay Nook Lane. This leads you directly into the network of paths and lanes that are a feature of Askrigg and are great for a quiet stroll and to get to know the village better. They also extend beyond Askrigg so that you can walk as far as you wish in any direction.
Downstairs Description
You enter Urlay Nook through a small entrance porch with hanging for coats and from this into the dining kitchen. There is a shaker style cream kitchen with beechwood worktops, farmhouse dresser, table and chairs with traditional stone flagged floor and a door that takes you straight out onto one of the two patios and into the south facing garden. There is a large utility room off the kitchen with additional sink, plenty of storage and more drying space. From the kitchen you enter the spacious dining room, then from this the downstairs lobby and stairs with the original stone bread oven and further door into the garden. From the lobby you then enter the large but cosy living room with two large, comfortable hand-made sofas, stone fireplace with multifuel stove (fuel provided), smart TV and sound system. The cottage has a mixture of antique and handmade furniture to bring out the character of the cottage with it's beamed ceilings and thick stone walls which keep it cosy and warm in winter and cool in summer.
First Floor Description
Upstairs there are two large bedrooms and bathrooms. There is a very spacious super-king sized bedroom with a stunning handcrafted 6ft bed, antique furniture, smart TV, en-suite shower room and magnificent beamed and vaulted ceiling. At the opposite side of the cottage is the romantic twin bedroom with it's white and brass beds, a further smart TV and antique furniture. Between the two bedrooms is the house bathroom with a Villeroy and Bosch bath and separate large shower cubicle.
Window Views Description
Urlay Nook has 20 windows and 4 outside doors, 2 of which lead directly into the garden. The living room and both bedrooms are dual aspect and the dining room is triple aspect, all with views north into parts of the village with the hills and moors beyond and south over the beck onto the haymeadows at the back of the cottage. The kitchen and upstairs hall windows also have this view. The window in the utility room looks up the village as does one of the dining room windows. Basically there are so many windows that you have views of the village or countryside from 3 sides of the cottage.
