Walnut is all about ambiance and style. The cottage offers spacious living for couples and can accommodate up to 4 guests with a second sleeping area with twin beds is accessed through the main bedroom. The cottage has an open plan layout, warm and expansive, it is truly a place to indulge. This is the perfect place for special occasions with a loved one but is also equally grand and versatile for families.
Walnut is one of just five luxury, award-winning luxury self-catering holiday cottages at Heath Farm in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds. The cottages can accommodate between 2 – 4 adults and have been furnished and fitted to a very high standard. For a larger group you may prefer booking Cobnut & Chestnut together known as Aslan. All cottage can be booked (only for weekly break) and can accommodate 14 guests.
Delightfully situated these old stone farm buildings are set in 70 acres of meadow and woodland. This is a nature lovers paradise and walkers and cyclists also love it here. Grouped around a stunning paved courtyard the cottages make the ideal base for a holiday or break at any time of the year.
Heath Farm is ideally placed for exploring the beautiful villages and historic towns of The Cotswolds with plenty of cultural and leisure activities to be found in places such as Oxford, Stratford and even closer by in Chipping Norton, Banbury and various other towns in the stunning Cotswolds.
As well as the magnificent courtyard with water feature and herb and flower adorned borders there are also 70 acres of amazing private woodland and meadow to explore. There are communal gardens with flower borders, comfortable seating and great views overlooking the courtyard and valley beyond. Past the orchard there's a games lawn which has a croquet pitch and games shed packed full of kit including kids archery, giant jenga, kites, bat & ball games and more. There's also a 14ft diameter trampoline and also a woodland stage. Feel free to roam around the woodland at your own pace. We also have a games room which has a pool table, table tennis, darts board, movie projector and sound system. There's also a host of board games, DVD's, musical equipment and books which you are welcome to take to your cottage. There's also an exercise bike, gym mats and even a telescope available to use! We have a number of commercial units at the farm which house 3 joinery shops, a motorbike showroom, tiling showroom, 2 bakeries (cakes only) and a sound recording studio.
First Floor Description
Walnut is our crowning glory and by far the most sumptuous of all five cottages. It’s gloriously spacious for two but is equally suited to families and larger groups. It boasts large, impressive features with a gallery style open plan layout, warm and expansive, indulgent yet all the while homely. When special occasions demand the best you’ll be hard pressed to find better.
Walnut sits at two the top floors of an old converted barn. The outside solid Oak staircase takes you up to an outside landing, you enter the fully equipped kitchen with solid oak units and Welsh slate worktop. Solid hardwood doors lead you into the main living area where sunlight floods in from the gable which has elegant oak windows overlooking the courtyard. A massive stone fireplace with its chimney breast towers up to the pitched ceiling and the sleeping gallery above. There are exposed stone walls, oak beams, wood paneling and polished elm floor which all combine with the three comfortable sofas to create a warm and luxurious ambiance.
The magnificent, slate tiled bathroom, off the living room, has a large deep bath and separate shower. A truly opulent room to relax and indulge oneself.
Second Floor and Above Description
A solid elm staircase takes you upstairs to the sleeping areas, a magnificent stone arched window gives glorious views down to the pond and across the picturesque valley. The main bedroom has a super-king sized bed with a firm orthopaedic mattress and Egyptian cotton bedding. The second bedroom has twin beds and is accessed through the main bedroom which is separated by heavy curtains.
All our cottages have superior craftsmanship and a natural luxurious feel. Combine this this with our exacting standards and attention to detail ensures that Beechnut offers guests a truly relaxing and pleasurable experience. As with all our cottages, Beechnut has outperformed its star rating and been awarded gold by Visit England in recognition of exceptional quality. We are also Gold standard with Green Tourism for our environmental standards.
Window Views Description
The French windows and large apex window above give commanding views of the magnificent courtyard with water feature and teh animal field beyond. The dining area and main bedroom have fantastic views of the animal field and pond below, past that is the woodland and Swere valley stretching out beyond
