Wilf's Barn is one of just two, detached barns at Brickyard Farm Cottages. The barn is ideally located on the edge of the Somerset Levels and close to the historic City of Wells, Cheddar and Glastonbury.
Situated in the heart of the beautiful Somerset countryside Wilf's Barn has been converted to a good standard and offers guests comfort and rustic charm. Sleeping two guests this really is a romantic Somerset retreat and is available all year round.
The cottage is light and airy and has been decorated in a style very much in keeping with a vintage country barn. Modern facilities are also very much in evidence including the underfloor heating and fully equipped kitchen.
On the mezzanine floor above the kitchen is a spacious bedroom and modern bed with quality mattress and luxury linens.
Outside you can relax on the sun loungers provided or maybe cook up a storm on the bbq while having a chilled glass of something sparkly.
Wilfs Barn sits at the entrance to Brickyard Farm sheltered by hedges and trees. It is well away from our house and we respect our guests privacy. The south and west facing outside space around the cottage is gravelled and there is parking for one car. Garden furniture is provided i.e. table and chairs, BBQ and sun loungers and there is an old trough and pots filled with plants and flowers. The cottage is a five minute walk from the centre of the village of Wedmore with it's many shops and three local pubs serving good food.
On the edge of the Somerset Levels this is a fantastic location for bird and wildlife. The starling murmurations from November to February at dusk are not to be missed. We are close to Wells with it's magnificent cathedral, Glastonbury Tor and Abbey and Cheddar and Wookey caves. Bath and Bristol are less than an hours drive away and the Mendip Hills nearby are an area of outstanding natural beauty. There is plenty to see and do.
Wilfs Barn is a snug and cosy little barn conversion.The front door opens into the airy double height living room which is comfortably furnished with a large leather sofa, perfectly positioned to snuggle up in front of the TV and fire after enjoying a walk in the beautiful local countryside. The well equipped galley kitchen leads off the open plan living room with a window at the end looking out onto our garden and across to the main house. The country style bathroom is also on the ground floor with a shower over the bath, toilet and heated towel rail - there are soft fluffy bath sheets, towels, a dressing gown and slippers for each guest . A cupboard outside the bathroom provides space for your clothes. Underfloor heating throughout the ground floor keeps the cottage warm and cosy and toasty for your toes!
French windows open out onto a gravelled terrace with space for outdoor dining and a BBQ in the summer.
First Floor Description
The bedroom is on the mezzanine floor with sloping ceiling and a velux window. You can star gaze or pull the blind for a restful nights sleep in the comfortable double bed with it's memory foam topper and crisp cotton linen.
