The Linhay At Butterhills Escapes

Braunton,

Devon, South West England

Get away from the hustle and bustle and escape to this beautiful off grid holiday home in North Devon.

Close to the stunning North Devon coast; Woolacombe, Saunton, Croyde and Putsborough beaches are just a few minute’s drive away and beautiful Exmoor National Park is within easy reach too. There are wonderful countryside walks from your door to the neighbouring village with community shop & excellent pub or explore further afield.

The property is delightfully situated in a peaceful rural setting with only the sounds of nature – the River Caen as it trickles by, the surrounding oak trees, gentle birdsong and night time owls.

Perfect for a romantic retreat for two or a family escape for four, the choice is yours. The Linhay is ideal for couples but large enough for two singles to share in comfort as well – on a king-size bed on the mezzanine and a double futon sofabed in the living area.

Although off-grid, the property is extremely cosy all year round with it’s fabulous wood burner keeping you toasty warm and providing a small oven too so you can try your hand at baking in a woodfired oven – perfect for warming your scones from the complimentary Devon cream tea!

Off grid with mod cons
There’s a well-equipped kitchen with four burner gas hob.
The en suite shower room has a good-sized shower with hot water on demand (no need to light a fire first!) as well as a basin and a proper flushing loo, giving you modern comfort in a traditional off-grid setting.

Lighting in the Linhay is powered by Solar PV and a battery storage system, there are also several rechargeable lanterns and a DAB radio.

The property is dog friendly, with one dog very welcome – but do contact the owner direct as they can be flexible if you would like to bring two dogs.

Outside you can relax in the hammocks and simply take in the sounds of nature. There’s a rustic table and benches for outdoor dining, Adirondack chairs for a relaxing cuppa or enjoy the firepit and amazing star-fields in the evening. There’s ancient woodland and wildflower meadows to explore and a beautiful riverside glade with a yoga deck – perfect for morning sun salutations, picnics & relaxing. These spaces are yours to enjoy exclusively, ensuring total privacy and ultimate relaxation.

Off Grid – what it means…
Home comforts in harmony with nature – the Linhay is not connected to the National Grid so has no mains services, no power sockets or wifi. There are power sockets, recharging points for lanterns and phones as well as a fridge freezer by the parking area for exclusive use of Linhay guests. If you are on Vodaphone or O2 you will have a good 4g signal in the Linhay & surrounding area – (guests have used this to work from home), BT and EE signal is a bit patchy but fine for texts & calls.
Cooking is on a gas hob, BBQ, small wood-burner oven or over the fire pit with unlimited hot water for washing & washing up provided by a gas boiler. The Linhay’s water is from a spring fed well which is treated and tested to ensure it is the purest spring water for drinking. You’ll find it makes an excellent cuppa and tastes delicious as it contains no chemicals and all the other nasties associated with mains water.
