The gardens are a particularly beautiful and restful feature of Scale House, so take the time to stroll around the grounds and leave the kids to play on the extensive lush lawns that back on to private woodlands; When it’s time to unwind and relax further, perhaps a soak in the marvelous hot tub before or after dinner. The nearby town of Skipton hosts all local amenities, alongside a wealth of attractions, why not tour the glorious historical Skipton Castle, play a round of golf at the challenging Skipton Golf Course, or learn about Skipton’s history in the Craven Museum & Gallery. Head towards the village of Embsay and board the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway to run through the rural scenery and end up at the fantastic Bolton Abbey, take the kids to Hesketh Farm Park and view the variety of farm animals, before enjoying traditional dishes at the Elm Tree Inn. A highlight of the property is that you will be staying within the boundary of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, very popular with cyclists and those with an outdoor interest where you can enjoy a trek along the Pennine Way Trail, explore the caves of Ingleborough and White Scar, or experience the mystical Hull Pot Waterfall. The Duke of Devonshire’s estate, Bolton Abbey is on your doorstep and a short drive will take you to Haworth, home to the Bronte sisters, the amazing independent, quirky town of Hebden Bridge, the spa towns of Harrogate and Ilkley which are home to the famous Betty’s Tea Rooms, well worth a visit for those who love traditional elegance and superb afternoon tea! With the nearby Nidderdale, Forest of Bowland and Malham’s areas of outstanding natural beauty, you will never be short of things to do in this fantastic location. For a delightful break in North Yorkshire, you can be Lord or Lady of the Manor in the breath-taking, but homely, Scale House.
Complete with complementary use of a heated indoor swimming pool, all weather tennis court, gym and games room and awarded the top accolade of Five Star Gold from Visit England/Quality in Tourism, there are three gorgeous bedrooms to the ground floor – a large double, a twin bedroom with a fabulous en-suite shower room with wet-room area, WC and had wash basin, plus a second double bedroom. A cot and high chair can be made available for the use of guests but can this please be requested at the time of booking. Guests are requested to provide their own cot linens.
The house bathroom is gorgeous – large, beautifully done with a stunning free-standing bath and is ideal to relax with a glass of champagne or a cup of tea, whatever your preference! – good-size shower, WC, bidet and hand wash basin.
Upstairs is an amazing space with a stylish kitchen which is very well-equipped with electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge with small freezer compartment, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer.
There is dining area and a large living space with wonderful furniture and a wood burning stove. (Note – the wood burning stove is available from 30th September – 1st April)
Cartwheels is in a gated courtyard with a gravelled driveway and parking; there is a pretty central water feature surrounded by flowering plants, plus a terrace outside the property that has a table and chairs, where you can sit and enjoy drinks and meals in the open air.
The shared indoor heated swimming pool is fabulous – late afternoon the sun fills the pool area and the deep blue water shimmers in the light. There is a smart changing area for both males and females and the water is warm, so you can sit and enjoy a good read on one of the loungers. NB. The pool is closed during the winter months. There is an all-weather tennis court and a games room, so lots to do if you don’t want to just chill by the pool!
Woodcock and Snipe barns are neighbouring identical barns. Compact but both ooze character and charm. Sleeps six plus cots in three Bedrooms.
