Despite being England's smallest county, Rutland is arguably one of it's prettiest. In a county renowned for it's water, take relaxing walks around lush nature reserves, cycle around pretty reservoirs or for the more active try a spot of canoeing or sailing. Visit stately homes and stop off for a quick pint of cask in the many country inns you'll find along the way. Worthwhile places of interest include Grimsthorpe Castle Park & Gardens, Aqua Park Rutland and Rutland Water Golf Course. A luxury cottage in Rutland in either of the quaint towns of Oakham and Uppingham offer a great base for shopping, especially Uppingham which is famed for it's antiques and galleries.
