Butley Priory is unlike any other place in the world. considered “one of the most romantic houses in England” by Vogue. This historic Grade 1 listed structure, which is only 700 years old, has lately undergone exquisite restoration to create an incredibly comfortable space. It is a memorable place to stay because of its Gothic architecture, spacious reception halls with vaulted ceilings, and burning log fireplaces.
The only structures left from the ancient 20-acre estate are the Refectory barn, the Rere-Dorter, and the Priory, which was established in the 12th century as the gatehouse to an Augustinian Priory.
The Great Hall is a stunning venue that can accommodate weddings, birthday celebrations, and supper clubs, or it can be used as a private area for a family vacation or smaller house party. Everyone may find plenty of space here to play board games, check up on their daily Suffolk adventures, or just unwind by the fire. The newly planted lovely Tudor garden, which is a profusion of roses and lavender in the summer, is directly accessible from the French doors. For alfresco lunch and dinner gatherings and barbecues, there are outdoor tables and chairs beneath a shade tree. The Priory is completely isolated and encircled by farms and old woods. The only sounds you will hear are the occasional tractor and the singing of nightingales.
