There is a lot to explore and take in the rich history of this 1698-built castle in South Cornwall, which is located on the Devon and Cornwall border. Take a boat tour or rent kayaks or paddleboards on the River Tamar. Go farther out and discover the breathtaking South Coast, including Whitsand Bay, which has four miles of golden sands and is reachable by a precipitous cliff path. The South West Coast Path, which offers hikes to Portwrinkle, Downderry, Looe, and Polperro, goes parallel to the cliffs. Explore the beautiful grounds and spend a day playing croquet or bowles on the lawn, or spend a day clay pigeon shooting, wine tasting, or 4×4 off-roading—all of which are accessible at the Castle (at an extra cost). If all this sounds too exhausting, a day relaxing by the heated swimming pool is never wasted time
