Outside Description
The front area of Moonseeker is reached by walking past the Farmhouse (where you park to unload and load) to a palisade fence and gate. You will find a muddy paw/boot wash just to the right of the door. The front of the cottage overlooks the sunken garden and pond which are full of shrubs and colourful plants.
At the back of the cottage is the very private and secluded South West facing garden, specifically for the cottage. There is a decked area with table and chairs, sun parasol a bbq and steps leading up to a grassy area which has views over the field behind, where sheep and lambs often graze, to Dartmoor beyond. The garden boundaries are a combination of high fence, hedge and a wall between Moonseeker and a neighbouring property.
Once unloaded there are 2 undercover parking spaces for medium sized cars, about 30 metres from Moonseeker. There is good sensor lighting to help you see your way from the parking area to the cottage. We also provide torches.
Downstairs Description
There is a handy cloakroom just off of the entrance hall area, which has hanging hooks for coats, and two steps up to the open plan kitchen and lounge divided by an oak staircase made by the owner. The kitchen is a spacious area, with a farmhouse table as the central feature. It is very well equipped for rustling up quick snacks in the microwave or Christmas dinner on the double oven range cooker - with a full sized dishwasher for the washing up! Plenty of glasses, cutlery and crockery for 4 people without having to wash up after each meal and an espresso maker for the early morning wake up coffee. Undercounter fridge and separate freezer. There is a washing machine and clothes line, with an indoor clothes airer. We provide environmentally friendly washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets and laundry liquid and favour products which are not tested on animals. Tea Towels/kitchen hand towel/kitchen roll/salt & pepper, vinegar and cooking oil spray are provided as well as a pint of milk, tea bags, coffee and suger to help you relax when you arrive, along with some welcome goodies.
Passing the stairs you reach the lounge with a comfortable leather sofa and 2 arm chairs. There are some traditional board games in the coffee table. The large TV has a DVD player and there is a separate iPod dock with Bluetooth. The Woodburner is easy to use and the first basket of logs is free, more can be purchased from the owner or locally.
First Floor Description
At the top of the stairs is the Master Bedroom. This room has a SuperKing bed (6ft), which can be a twin on request, chest of drawers, bedside cabinets, triple wardrobe and dressing table. There are bedside lamps and further lighting in the room. The room has a tower fan for hot summer nights. The comfortable Hypnos bed has a mattress topper when made as a double, to make sure you won't feel the zip down the middle, and storage under the bed.
The ensuite has a loo, sink and large shower cubicle and a power shower. There is a heated towel warmer as well as underfloor heating in this room.
Turning right at the top of the stairs you will cross a flying walkway or 'bridge' to reach the second bedroom which has a King sized bed (5ft), bedside cabinets, triple wardrobe, dressing table and a small tower fan. This bed is also a Hypnos bed with storage space under.
The ensuite has a loo, sink and large shower cubicle and a power shower. There is a heated towel warmer as well as underfloor heating in this room. The A-frame beams are exposed in this room and form an interesting feature between the sink and loo.
Window Views Description
The front door and front lounge windows overlook the formal sunken garden and pond, with hydrangeas in the foreground. The rear ground floor windows look into Moonseeker's back garden and the field behind (hedge height permitting!) and the kitchen has the birdfeeder in view from the kitchen table. Very popular with our guests!
Upstairs the windows are high velux, but if you are tall there are views to Dartmoor. And if you aren't so tall the clouds and the moon are pretty wonderful to watch anyway.
