Ford Old Hall Barn is a luxurious, award winning holiday barn which is delightfully situated in a picturesque hamlet in the beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands area of the Peak District National Park. Ford Old Hall Barn will exceed your expectations and has been reviewed by 89 sets of guests achieving an 'Excellent' 5 star rating by Trip Advisor.
The barn has been converted to the highest standards and can comfortably sleep up to 4 guests and is therefore suitable for families and friends alike. The barn gives you a taste of ‘upside down’ living with an open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area. As well as the 2 bedrooms (master super king sized double & a twin bedded room, both en suite) there is also a travel cot available for babies and toddlers.
Outside there is a spacious wrap around patio and covered hot tub which overlooks the orchard which provides plenty of space to play, the patio is great for al fresco dining and barbecues
The barn is ideally located to explore the Peak District National Park and is only 15 minutes from either Alton Towers, the local market towns of Ashbourne & Leek or the wonderful scenery of Dovedale and the many other visitor activities and attractions in this unspoilt corner of the National Park.

Outside Description
You can expect the highest standards of conversion throughout with all modern facilities which continue outside with a wraparound patio and a fabulous private covered porch for the hot tub which overlooks the newly planted orchard,.
This means you can use the hot tub all year round, great to soak after those long walks in our glorious surroundings, or to simply watch the fabulous starry skies we get as you relax at the end of the day exploring the National Park.
We don't have any light pollution here, you will delight in the evening skies which can produce some stunning photography, there are no street lamps in Ford so in matter where you look you see the best 'big skies'.
If the children are with you they will love the freedom of the available space, whether that is playing ball games in the orchard or the freedom to run around end expand all that energy little ones have in very safe surroundings.
There is a large wooden shed at the side of the barn which houses even more outdoor furniture & the barbecue, if you bring your cycles with you there is plenty of space to lock them away each evening.
There is plenty of safe parking and for those with electric vehicles, we can help with the overnight recharge from our adjacent storage barn.
The plot is surrounded by mature trees with distant views to moorland, you will be away from the road, in any case, we don't get much traffic here at all, a few tractors each day and the odd car or tourist enjoying a detour off the main route and is probably lost!
Downstairs Description
As you walk up the cobbled path and enter the barn there is a fully equipped utility & boot room, with a washer/dryer, large heated towel rail & high rail to dry off wet clothes and a sink & freezer. We supply all washing detergents for use with the washer.
Whatever time of day you return to the barn the temperature will be just right for the time of year, delivered by under floor heating throughout supplied by our eco friendly ground source heat pump which. A constant temperature is maintained & it is lovely & cosy in the colder months, heating & hot water 24 hrs day is all included.
On leaving the boot room you will enter the main hallway with stairs leading up top the open plan living area whilst downstairs you will find the two bedrooms.
First is the cosy twin room with it's own en suite with a full size bath and overhead rain shower, the bedroom has a large wardrobe with drawers, dressing table & chair & a bedside table and lamps & an occasional chair.
Further along the hallway you will find the master bedroom with a huge super king bed and en suite wet room, with rain shower. The super king double has a large wardrobe, dressing table & chair with drawers, 2 bedside tables & lamps, there are also 2 occasional chairs.
Both bedrooms have quality white cotton bedding with duvets, a choice of pillows is provided at your request, all hypo allergenic, luxurious ‘heavenly’ mattress toppers add that extra comfort.
Both bedrooms have stone floors with underfloor heating, Roman blinds to all windows with thermal & black out linings.
The bathrooms are fully tiled & have under floor heating, there are heated towel rails, mirrors with shaver points & recessed ceiling spot lights, you will be provided with lovely white fluffy cotton towels.
We provide additional towels & bathrobes for use with the hot tub, also, ‘hotel style’ slippers. Hair dryers are provided in both bedrooms. There is a travel cot, high chair & stair gate available for the little ones.
From the master super king bedroom there is direct access out to the covered porch which houses the hot tub so no need to venture right outside! The hot tub fits 4 comfortably, there is patio furniture too, this all makes for a lovely area for relaxing after a day out exploring.
First Floor Description
The barn gives you a taste of ‘upside down’ living with an open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area making for the most sociable environment, not leaving someone in the group on their own preparing food in the kitchen whilst everyone else relaxes.There is a wood burning stove to add atmosphere & keep you extra warm & toasty during those winter months.
Second Floor and Above Description
From the hallway you climb the stairs up to the living space which will give you a taste of ‘upside down’ living with an open plan lounge, kitchen & dining area making for the most sociable environment, not leaving someone in the group on their own preparing food in the kitchen whilst everyone else relaxes!
There is a lovely oak floor with underfloor heating, an excellently equipped oak kitchen with Italian granite work surfaces to rival any modern home.
There is a large Britannia range cooker with two ovens, there are two fridges so you can make sure you can keep all your drinks chilled too! A dishwasher will take the strain out of washing pots so more time to relax.
You can choose to dine at the granite peninsula unit or at the dining table which will be set ready for your arrival along with your supper which will be prepared and in the slow cooker so you can choose to eat at your own leisure.
In the lounge area you will enjoy the comfort & cosiness of two large (cloth) sofas, side tables & you will delight in atmosphere created when you light the Scandinavian log burner which is wonderful on cold winter evenings.
Window Views Description
From the master superking bedroom there are views over the orchard & mature trees beyond, with distant views to the moors, from the cosy twin bedroom views are out onto a lawned area bordered by laurel hedging.
Upstairs there are two floor level windows which overlook the lawned area & laurel hedging and the beautiful copper beech tree which is stunning in the summer months, younger ones are delighted when they can lay on their tummies on the floor and peek at the wildlife (the windows do have locks!)
The kitchen window overlooks hawthorn hedging and lawned area whilst the window by the log burner overlooks the old storage barn and down the cobbled path to the grassed area where the big old oak tree stands.
