Hunting Tower

Bakewell,

Derbyshire, East Midlands

Perched on the edge of Stand Wood, 400 feet above Chatsworth House, the Hunting Tower offers breathtaking views over the Chatsworth Estate. Completed in the 1500s, this intriguing structure was intended for Bess of Hardwick, the Duke of Devonshire’s ancestor.

Originally built in the sixteenth century, the hunting tower’s purpose was to keep an eye on the hounds while they worked in the park below. The building currently provides guests of Chatsworth with the chance to stay in a distinctive residence in the centre of this lovely estate following major repairs to the building’s structure.
