Lea Stable

Bakewell,

Derbyshire, East Midlands, Peak District

Once home to a horse named Ted, this 19th century Derbyshire stable has been transformed, restored and extended to accommodate guests. With an emphasis on using local architects, craftsmen, and materials to create a modern, rural edge. Natural furnishings combined with matte black and monochrome tones set the scene perfectly.

Step through the stable door into a beautiful open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting area. Cosy up on the linen sofa, layered with plush cushions and thick throws to enjoy your favourite film or get lost in a book. The wooden ash herringbone flooring works in perfect harmony with the light Scandinavian round dining table and black wishbone chairs. The skilfully crafted kitchen area has two automated windows above to ensure natural light cascades through, and is well-equipped for even the keenest chef. The Fohen kettle tap adds to the ease of cooking in the kitchen at Lea Stable; the kitchen is beautifully complemented by handcrafted stoneware crockery.

Through the sliding barn door is the stunning monochrome wet room, with a large rainfall shower to invigorate even the weariest of souls. Thoughtful fixtures and fittings like underfloor heating, a heated towel rail, brushed brass heated light mirror and a modern suspended sink with storage drawers ensure that time in here is well spent.

A wooden staircase, with plush carpet leads you to the inviting warm and cosy bedroom. Sloped ceilings and the exposed original beam add to the charm and are complemented by the beautiful bed linens and throws, built in storage, baskets, and hanging space. There is also a dressing table and mirror for you to sit at and two skylight windows that allow natural light to flood in and offer amazing views of the sunsets casting over the Dale.

Outside and a few steps down the lane, is the private terrace area for Lea Stable. Furnished with an outdoor sofa/puff and coffee table, this is an ideal space for morning coffee or after dinner drinks in the warmer months.

Over Haddon village has been named amongst the most peaceful places in the UK, and is a short stroll away from the Lathkill Dale ,a spectacular combination of rolling hill’s and dramatic dales – a hidden gem in the heart of the Peak District. Just a stones-throw away from Lea Stable is the historic Lathkill pub and an abundance of walks and cycling trails in each and every direction. And not to forget that only 2 miles away is Bakewell, home of the famous Tart!

Lea Stable is the perfect place for couples seeking a romantic escape or a relaxing honeymoon and is equally the ideal place for a sole traveller to enjoy the serenity of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that is the Peak District.
