Step from the garden into a spacious kitchen with a dining area, which leads through an archway into a cosy sitting room warmed by an electric stove. In traditional fashion, two separate staircases take you upstairs—one leading to two bedrooms and a bathroom, the other to two further bedrooms and a shower room. Since the upstairs areas don’t connect, the layout works perfectly for two families or couples wanting a little privacy.
Outside, the enclosed lawned garden is surrounded by high walls and furnished with loungers and a table and chairs, making it a lovely spot to relax in the sun.
This is excellent walking country, with footpaths winding through woodland and along the River Teign right from the doorstep. A five-minute stroll brings you to The Drewe Arms Community Pub in the village square (recently awarded CAMRA’s Heritage Pub of the Year). You can also drive to Fingle Bridge in just five minutes for riverside dining at the Fingle Inn, or visit nearby Castle Drogo, Drakes Farm Shop, and the Cheriton Bishop convenience store. Chagford’s boutique shops and the attractions of Exeter, just 14 miles away, are also within easy reach.
Michaelmas Cottage is a wonderfully peaceful base for a relaxing break or scenic Dartmoor walks.
