Outside Description
Raitts House is as enjoyable outside as it is indoors. The sun travels across the front of the house throughout the day, and it’s no accident that it sets on the same side as the bubbling hot tub. Enjoy alfresco meals at the large concrete outdoor table, or perhaps take your breakfast or morning coffee on the south-facing lower terrace. Thanks to thoughtfully placed slate stepping stones, you can slip barefoot from indoors to out. The proximity of protected Insh Marshes means the garden is a bird spotter’s paradise. When dusk falls, there’s no need to head indoors: continue your conversations around the fire pit and enjoy the sympathetic outdoor lighting.
Downstairs Description
Once you’ve kicked off your shoes to make the most of the underfloor heating, you’ll enter the kitchen and catch the first glimpse of the superb views out of the front windows. Indeed, you don’t have far to step until you can pull up a chair to the kitchen island and plonk yourself in front of said view.
The extremely well kitted out open-plan kitchen and dining room is a foodie’s dream, and it’s perfectly suited to family life too. Enjoy the fruits of your labour around the dining table, which you’ll be in no hurry to leave thanks to the comfortable chairs and nearby wood-burning stove. The dining room is also home to a cosy nook, the perfect place to enjoy a drink and your favourite holiday read.
The separate lounge has been decorated with an eye for quality and style, but practicality abounds. Kids will be happy with the Smart TV, which is designed to present a perfect picture from all angles. Leather sofas and flop-into-me armchairs encircle the contemporary wood-burner and the bespoke coffee table. It’s also worth mentioning the carefully considered artwork created by a mix of sculptors and artists from the owner’s native Yorkshire and the Cairngorms that appears throughout the house. There’s one bedroom downstairs, with a sumptuous kingsized bed.
First Floor Description
Good sleeps are guaranteed at Raitts House. Upstairs, you’ll find the other three bedrooms: the main bedroom with an ensuite and superking bed, a second bedroom with a kingsize bed, and a family/twin room with both a double and a single. You’ll struggle to choose between the two upstairs bathrooms: will it be a soak in the one with the freestanding bath with views for miles, or a rainfall shower in the spa-like main bathroom with its funky orange towel rail? There’s also a fourth toilet downstairs, off the utility.
