This spacious, self-contained wing of a traditional period Exmoor farmhouse has two bedrooms and has been refurbished to an extremely high standard, ideal for two couples or a family of four. Many of the traditional aspects have been retained such as the inglenook fireplace and wood-burning stove but mod cons such as excellent Wifi, DVD player and smart TV are an added bonus. Sensational views across the Exe Valley and a peaceful setting make a stay at Stockham Farm a real treat.
Breakfast can be made available to guests if required - either in the cottage or the farmhouse dining room.
The Victorian Wing is one of just two luxury cottages at Stockham Farm. Delightfully located the cottages are close to the small market town of Dulverton on the Somerset/Devon border and with easy access to the open moorland and wooded valleys of Exmoor - a walker’s paradise.
Both properties give guests the dedicated use of their own garden space (within the farm’s 35 acres!) and panoramic view. The Victorian Wing has the sole use of a delightful orchard to the side of the cottage with a table, chairs and deckchairs, and the Piggery has its own private courtyard garden with table seating. Both properties have BBQs too.
We have excellent satellite broadband at Stockham and really good WiFi that extends throughout the cottages and outside too! 4G reception is also good, as is mobile reception for EE and Three.
For larger groups It is possible to let both properties together (sleeping 10) ideal for multi generation or two families and groups.
The cottage is situated on the farm, in a truly stunning Exmoor setting – with beautiful, sympathetic decor, panoramic views and tranquility guaranteed. It has its own private garden which is the farm's small orchard garden, with a table , chairs, deckchairs and a bbq, and guests in both cottages are also welcome to explore the farm’s 35 acres, where you will find horses, Exmoor Horn sheep and abundant wildlife, including rare Red Deer which come right up to the pond to drink in summer evenings. Parking is plentiful, right outside the cottage door.
The Victorian Wing cottage is the beautifully refurbished and spacious wing of a traditional period Exmoor farmhouse. Completely self-contained, the cottage has the grand farmhouse front door and porch (great for removing muddy boots and drying off muddy paws) which leads into the large sitting-room. This warm, welcoming and characterful room boasts underfloor heating, as well as a fabulous inglenook fireplace and wood-burning stove! With comfy chairs, a huge sofa, bookcases, board games, DVD player and a smart TV, all creature comforts are there for you.
From a half-landing you will find the bespoke kitchen/breakfast room with views of the orchard from the old pine table; as well as the luxury bathroom with bath with shower over. These two rooms both have underfloor heating, and the kitchen has a dishwasher, a washing machine and a microwave in addition to the ceramic hob and fan assisted oven.
First Floor Description
On the first floor both of the cosy, comfortable bedrooms have lovely rural views across the paddocks to the hills beyond. One bedroom has a kingsize bed and the other has a superking size bed that can be changed into a pair of full size twin beds if guests prefer.
Window Views Description
The sitting room and bedroom windows look out across the large gardens at the farm, with the fields, woodland and hills in the distance. If you bring your horses to Stockham, they can be seen grazing from the cottage. The kitchen/breakfast room window looks out over the orchard garden.
