This stunningly beautiful cottage has been refurbished to the highest of standards and cleverly mixes original features from the past with stylish touches of today. Stone Cottage simply has to be one of the best specified, best appointed and best equipped cottages in the area.
Take in the superb views from every window of waterfalls, fells and mountains and relax in luxurious surroundings. The cottage is ideal for a family or friends and can accommodate up to 6 guests in 4 bedrooms: 2 kings and 2 single bedrooms (up to 2 children accepted) 2 bathrooms; one with double- ended bath the second with shower. As well as a fully equipped, spacious kitchen there is a large living room with window seats and open fire. Outside there is a sunny front garden with terrace and luxurious garden furniture.

As well as the incredible scenery this location is a walkers and foodies paradise with several superb walks available straight from your front door. Situated in the Patterdale valley in the heart of the Lake District, Stone Cottage is ideally situated for exploring the area by foot or by car.
There are many great places to eat within striking distance including one of the best restaurants in the country, L’Enclume in Cartmel which has two Michelin stars. Nearby, Ambleside has a growing foodie reputation and can now boast several great restaurants and eateries.

Outside Description
The front garden is fully enclosed and on two level with the upper level having a sunny patio with comfortable rattan garden furniture provided from April to September (weather permitting). The fell views from here are surealy amongst the best from any cottage in the Lakes.
The rear garden climbs up the fellside and is carpeted with snowdrops, dafodils and bluebells in the Spring. It has a seating area and stone sculpture whish is raised above the cottage and has magnificent views. Birdlife is busy and the owners provide a bird feeder which attracts a wide range of species into the garden. Stone Cottage also has bunnies - its own Peter Rabbit, to amuse you whilst you stand at the kitchen sink and do the washing up!
Downstairs Description
The beautiful 17th century oak front door opens into an entrance lobby with pretty original feature window. From here you enter the large beamed sitting room which is flooded with light with two large Edwardian sash windows which have the most fabulous panoramic view over the Patterdale valley. Two sumptuous velvet sofas,and a large leather armchair make the most of these views and the open fire which is thoughtfully laid for your arrival (all logs and fuel included in the price.) This is a lovely room which is difficult to leave - whether using the antique writing desk or the SkyQ satellite TV system, there is everything you need here. Children will love the huge number of games and jigsaws stored in the two pretty window seats and adults will just love the peace that this location provides. Pure bliss!
Also on this floor is a shower room tiled in green slate from the local quarry off Kirkstone Pass, one of the many locally sourced materials used in this thoughtful restoration which provides Stone Cottage with a real sense of place.
The dining room also has a green slate floor and is really cosy and furnished with padded chairs covering in Ian Mankin fabrics with glorious full length curtains (again using English designers' fabrica) making this room super-cosy for romantic meals in.
Off the dining room is a rear lobby with door to the large undercover rear porch and lovely fellside garden, plus it holds a large antique pew for sitting doen and removing muddy boots. There are many thoughful touches throughout this property.
The rear kitchen was added by the architect owner and has a high vaulted beamed celing, handcrafted and painted kitchen units and at the far end has a utility area complete with the original pantry sink which was rescued from the cottage as part of the refurbishement. The kitchen has and AEG double oven with induction hob, Neff dishwasher, large Meile fridge/freezer, large microwave and dualit 4-slot toaster and kettle. There is a washer/dryer in the utility area with useful drying rack.
Farrow and Ball paints and designer fabrics are used throughout this immaculate cottage providing much inspiration for your own interior schemes...there is even a sourcebook, plus the owners are always happy to help provide details of artists, designers and local shops where you can find some of the items in the cottage.
First Floor Description
This is a cottage with views and the bedrooms don't disappoint. The two Kings and one single have views towards Angle Tarn Pikes, Place Fell and many more of the far eastern fells - a glorious panorama and facing the sunrise too! (All blinds are blackout lined!) The rear single bedroom has views up the fellside back garden to Arnison Crag. Even the bathroom on this floor with double ended bath and calming limestone tiling has a view!
Window Views Description
Panoramic views of the Patterdale Valley from all rooms except the kitchen, bathroom, dining room and one single bedroom - these all enjoy fell views across the lovely garden to the rear of the property. This is a truly idyllic spot.
