Perfect for families and friends The Piggery has been refurbished to an extremely high standard and now offers quality, dog and horse friendly holiday accommodation in a truly beautiful country setting with sensational views across the Exe Valley. This traditional stone barn has retained many original features, with oak beams and quirky elements in every room but also has all the mod cons of today, including WiFi, smart TV and a Stovax gas-effect woodburning stove.
The Piggery is one of just two luxury cottages at Stockham Farm. Delightfully located the cottages are close to the small market town of Dulverton on the Somerset/Devon border and with easy access to the open moorland and wooded valleys of Exmoor - a walker’s paradise.
Both properties give guests the dedicated use of their own garden space (within the farm’s 35 acres!) with panoramic views. The Victorian Wing has the sole use of a delightful orchard to the side of the cottage with a table, chairs and deckchairs, and the Piggery has its own private courtyard garden with table seating. Both properties have a BBQ too.
We have excellent satellite broadband at Stockham and really good WiFi that extends throughout the cottages and outside too! 4G reception is also good, as is mobile reception for EE and Three.
For larger groups It is possible to let both properties together (sleeping 10) ideal for multi generation or two families and groups.
The Piggery is situated on Stockham Farm, in a truly stunning Exmoor setting – with beautiful, sympathetic decor, panoramic views and tranquility guaranteed. It has its own private courtyard garden with a table , 8 chairs, deckchairs and a bbq. Alongside the garden is a pretty, fenced pond. Guests in both cottages are also welcome to explore the farm’s 35 acres, where you will find horses, Exmoor Horn sheep and abundant wildlife, including rare Red Deer which come right up to the large pond near to the farmhouse to drink in summer evenings. Parking is plentiful, just adjacent to the Piggery.
The Piggery at Stockham Farm has been recently completely refurbished to an extremely high standard. A former traditional stone barn, housing many animals (not just pigs!) it was initially converted into a home over 30 years ago. The recent renovation has maintained all the original features, with oak beams, designer fabrics and quirky elements in every room.
The accommodation now comprises of three large bedrooms – two of which are on the ground floor (one twin and one kingsize) which share a shower room with a walk in shower cubicle.
On the ground floor you will also find a large sitting/dining room with comfy sofas, armchairs and a scrubbed pine table and chairs – as well as a Stovax gas-effect woodburning stove, a smart TV, DVD player and books and games to enjoy.
The large kitchen is fully fitted with a dishwasher, washing machine, fan assisted oven, ceramic hob and microwave. It is roomy enough for a window seat and a chair to sit and chat while someone else does the cooking! The whole of the ground floor has underfloor heating too.
First Floor Description
The first floor bedroom has a kingsize bed and the benefit of an adjacent bathroom with bath and hand shower attachment. The view from this bedroom is truly jaw-dropping – over fields, woodland and across the Exe Valley.
Window Views Description
There are fabulous views from the Piggery's windows. The upstairs kingsize bedroom has sensational distant views across the Exe Valley, while the sitting room, kitchen and twin bedroom look out over the courtyard garden to the fields beyond. For those bringing horses to the Piggery, you will be able to see them from the cottage either in the field or even in the stable yard (from a small window in the sitting room!).
