The traditional fisherman’s cottage dates back to the mid-1800s, with it’s solid sandstone structure built to withstand the elements. In recent years, the cottage has been thoughtfully renovated and extended to fully appreciate the stunning sea views, with large windows facing the seafront. Perfect for a solo retreat or couples getaway.
On entering the cottage, guests are welcomed into our living room, with its cosy log burner and comfortable sofa. It’s the perfect spot to close off the world and relax. We have a smart TV in the living room, with services such as Netflix and Disney+ for watching your favourite shows or films. There is a selection of board games and books for guests to use during their stay.
To the rear of the property is our open plan kitchen area, featuring a comfortable sofa area, well equipped kitchen, and dining table. Large glass windows frame the stunning sea view in front of the dining table, where hours can be spent watching the crashing waves, spotting local wildlife, including seals, dolphins & sea birds, and observing local fishing boats meandering by. It’s a favourite spot for artists and writers alike.
Our kitchen is well equipped for self catering stays, with a hob, electric oven, coffee machine and microwave. There is a dishwasher and washing machine available in the kitchen for guest use.
Our bedroom can be found off the living room, featuring a comfortable kingsize bed and soft, hotel quality linen. There is plenty of space for unpacking and hanging items during your stay, Our bathroom is located just off the dining area, featuring a large bath with overhead shower, toilet and sink. Soft towels and luxury toiletries from Scottish Fine Soaps are provided for all guests.
The cottage has a private patio garden with outdoor dining bench overlooking the seafront. Free, on-street parking is available on the roads surrounding the property. The entire property is available for guest use, including the patio area. One pet is welcome.
Writer’s Retreat is located in the charming coastal village of Rosehearty, set along the scenic Moray Firth with beautiful beaches and coastal walks on the doorstep. The nearby town of Fraserburgh is just a 10-minute drive away, offering supermarkets, shops, cafes and restaurants, as well as attractions such as Fraserburgh Heritage Centre and Kinnaird Head Lighthouse. The area is perfect for dolphin and seal spotting, coastal walks, golfing and exploring Aberdeenshire’s fishing villages, making it an ideal base for a relaxing seaside escape.
